Mashujaa Day celebrations: Order of events

Kenyans started trooping into Uhuru Gardens Thursday morning to take part in the nation's 58th Mashujaa celebrations.

Most were clad in attires emblazoned with the Kenyan flag as others donned traditional attires to represent their ethnic and traditional background. 

At around 8:00am dignitaries, politicians and invited guests then followed suit as they streamed in, one after the other taking their designated seats at the podium.

President William Ruto is expected to preside over the event, being his first public holiday as the Head of State.

About 22,000 people  are expected to attend the national fete.

Some 230 people are also set to be recognized as heroes and heroines.

The order of events will be as follows:

9.00 a.m.

All guests and wananchi are seated at Uhuru Gardens. 10.15 a.m. Arrival of Service Commanders.

10:20 a.m.

Chief of the Defence Forces, Gen R K Kibochi EGH CBS, PhD arrives at Uhuru Gardens.

10: 25 a.m.

The Governor of Nairobi City County, Gov.  Hon. Johnson Sakaja, C.B.S., arrives at Uhuru Gardens.

10.30 a.m.

Cabinet Secretaries; the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Martha Koome, E.G.H.; Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses M. Wetangula, E.G.H., M.P. and Speaker of the Senate, Sen. Amason Jeffa Kingi, E.G.H., M.P., arrive and are escorted to their seats.

10.40 a.m.

Guard of Honour marches into position.

10.45 a.m.

The Deputy President, His Excellency Hon. Gardens. Rigathi Gachagua arrives at Uhuru

10.55 a.m.

The State motorcade arrives Gardens. at Uhuru

On arrival, Their Excellencies the President Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD., C.G.H.el Ruto, E.G.H and the First Lady, Rach , are net by Chief of t Gen R K Kibochi EGHhe CBSDefence For PhD. ces,

His Excellency the President is escorted to the Ceremonial Vehicle by the Chief of the Defence Forces. Her Excellency the First Lady is escorted to the Presidential Dais. 12. His Excellency the President greets wananchi.

His Excellency the President mounts the Ceremonial Dais. 14. NATIONAL ANTHEM. EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY ANTHEM. 15. His Excellency the President inspects the Guard of Honour.

 His Excellency the President proceeds to the Presidential Dais.

The Guard of Honour marches past. 18. March-past by detachments of the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Police Service, Kenya Coast Guard Services, the Kenya Prisons Service, the Kenya Wildlife Service, the Kenya Forest Service, the National Youth Service, Nairobi City County Law Enforcement Unit, Defence 19. Forces Bands and Corps of Drums. Fly-past by KDF Aircraft.

March-past by Kenya Scouts, Girl Guides and St. John Ambulance l Starehe Boys and Girls Bed by combined rass Band.

His Excellency the President, Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD., C.G.H., addresses the Nation. NATIONAL ANTHEM.

The State Motorcade leaves Uhuru Gardens for State House.
