Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali proposes ‘shoot to kill’ solution to gangs terrorizing residents

Governor Ali made the request following recent series of insecurity cases reported in Saku Sub-county.

The county boss said at least six individuals are on police radar for being part of the syndicate touting guns and stealing from unarmed locals under the cover of darkness.

“I’ve had a discussion with the security team on the same. How can 6 people keep terrorizing this town for days on end? I want to request them again on record to shoot and kill any individual or any group causing havoc in town,” the governor said. 

He also called on the locals to help the security team by sharing critical information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects who are still at large.

Addressing the media earlier, Marsabit county commissioner Nobert Komora said his office is addressing the concerns by doing patrols within the town and various hot spots.

The county security committee chairman also fired warning shots to individuals causing insecurity breach on peoples’ home and private businesses that their days are numbered.

Komora also challenged the locals and the area leadership to work closely with his office to deal with the situation.

The situation was made worse by frequent power blackouts in Saku constituency for the third month running.

A month ago, local leaders joined Saku residents to demonstrate and later submitted their petition with no help in sight.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, activist Mohammed Hassan called on the County government to repair all street lights in town that have been off despite numerous calls for repair and lighting.

Locals too registered their dissatisfaction with the insecurity and power outages menace at the county headquarter.
