Mandera Chief arrested for aiding terrorism through illegal processing of Kenyan IDs

Detectives in Mandera have arrested Bula Power Sub Location Assistant Chief Yussuf Maalim Issak for allegedly enabling terrorism by allowing illegal aliens to acquire Kenyan Identity Cards.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the administrator is said to have been linked with two recently
arrested terror suspects accused of planning the abduction of foreign nationals
working at a sewer line construction site within Mandera township.
The two suspects arrested on Tuesday were Isaac Mohammed
Abdi and Noor Yakub Ali.
“The administrator is suspected to have facilitated the
procurement of an acknowledgement for registration slip /ID waiting card for
the terror suspects who were arrested while planning the abduction of a team of
foreign nationals engaged in the construction of a sewer line in Mandera town,”
read the statement.
The assistant chief has since been processed and is being
detained as detectives conclude their investigations.
In the Tuesday arrest, Isaac Abdi Mohamed aka Kharan Abdi
Hassan was identified as the prime suspect who recently sneaked into the
country from El-Adde in Somalia.
Upon interrogation, it was discovered that the suspect was
to pay Ksh.100,000 to his local associate, who would assist in the abduction.
This was before he would, alongside Noor, move the victims
to El-Adde at a fee of Ksh.300,000.
Yacob Ali was cornered and arrested at Metameta area in
Mandera; with the two due in court over terrorism-related charges.
