Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy slept with 10,000 women -Trial court
Appearing before a UK-based court Chester Crown Court on Thursday during the rape trial, the court heard that the Manchester City player reportedly told his victim, a 24-year-old lady, that he had prior slept with 10,000 women and that she was not to worry.
Mendy, 28, is accused of two charges; one for attacking the woman in October 2020, at his £4m (over Ksh.708 million) mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire and attempting to rape another woman,29, two years before.
In the 2020 instance, advocate Benjamin Aina KC told the trial Judge Stephen Everett that the France international was alleged to have raped the woman despite her telling him she did not want to have sex.
According to the woman, she had gone to the footballer’s home following an invite while on a night out with friends at a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.
She claimed that Mendy took her phone from her, which contained "intimate" photos, and then led her to his locked bedroom.
As she asked him to return her phone, the Man City defender said he only wanted to look at her, as he requested the lady to remove her clothes, which she did but remained with her underwear.
Mendy is then said to have thrown the phone on top of the bed and when she reached out to pick it up, he took hold of her from behind and raped her without her consent.
"At this stage, Mr Mendy took a step back and said 'You're too shy',” said Aina according to BBC. He added: “Mr Mendy said, 'It's fine. I've had sex with 10,000 women."
The court was also told that Mendy had also been accused of attempting to rape a female guest at his home in 2018.
Mendy has however denied all charges levelled against him maintaining that any sexual contact was consensual on both occasions.
In January this year, a jury cleared him of multiple other counts but failed to reach verdicts on rape and attempted charges hence the retrial.
