Man who asked Raila to bring guns from Russia released on Ksh.50K cash bail
A man suspected to have shared a video on social media
allegedly asking opposition chief Raila Odinga to go to Russia and bring guns to the country has been
released on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000.
According to the charge sheet, Omosh Jakababa alias Shadrach
Omondi Orwa is alleged to have used abusive words to wit “Baba enda Russia
utuletee bunduki, maaskari wote wakae raia, kila mtu apewe bunduki yake tuingie
State House” with intent to provoke a breach of peace.
‘Baba’ is a moniker used to refer to the Azimio la
Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Odinga by his supporters.
Jakababa is alleged to have uttered the words at a public
gathering at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya while threatening
and using abusive words.
Through his lawyer Danstan Omari, Jakababa pleaded for leniency
claiming that he is only fighting for the cost of living to be lowered.
He asked the court to give him a lenient cash bail in order to
allow him join other Kenyans in the ongoing anti-government demonstrations.
The matter was set for pre-trial mentioning on September 21,
2023.
