Police in Bondo sub-county have launched investigations into to an incident where a 27-year-old man is suspected to have been mauled to death by dogs at Rabonde ‘A’ village in Ajigo sub-location.

The man identified as Stephen Lilungo worked as a home guard was allegedly mauled to death and his body eaten by his employer’s dogs a couple of days ago.

According to Bondo sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer Reuben Onchoka, the deceased, an employee of Ken Were Miseda, also had a responsibility of taking care of the dogs.

He stated that after getting the information from Were Miseda’s neighbors, police officers visited the scene and only recovered a skeleton which is believed to belong to Lilungo.

Onchoka said that the police have already summoned the owner of the home, who works as a Veterinary Officer to record a statement over that matter.

Assistant Chief of Ajigo sub-location Stephen Aluoch said that Lilungo who hails from Kakamega was recently employed to take care of the dogs at the home of Miseda who trades in hybrid dogs.

He revealed that the incident was discovered Saturday evening after Miseda who was still in Eldoret, sent a friend to check on his home guard after he failed to reach him on phone since Thursday last week.

Aluoch was scared when he only found the dogs running up and down within the compound and the home guard was missing.

He alerted officers from Lwala Kotiende police station who accessed the home and found a skeleton believed to belong to Lilungo.

The remains of the deceased have since been moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary as investigations begin into the matter.
