Man charged with stealing Elgeyo Marakwet County gov’t signboards worth Ksh.30K

A middle-aged man was on Friday arraigned at the Iten Law Courts to face charges of stealing signboards and selling them to local welders.

The suspect, Robbert Kipruto alias 'Aliduru', appeared before Iten Senior Principal Magistrate Charles Kutwa to take plea.

The court heard that the accused - on August 19, 2022 at Arror trading centre in Marakwet West - stole two metal signboards valued at Ksh.30,000, which are the property of the Elgeyo Marakwet County government.

Prosecutor Mercy Muema told the court that the police will avail the exhibit during the date set for mentioning of the case.

The accused will remain in custody at Tambach Remand Prison and will be produced during the mention, slated for September 6, 2022.

The State, through the Elgeyo Marakwet County government, is the complainant in the matter where five witnesses have been listed.
