Man arrested for posing as top EACC official, purporting to be CEO Twalib Mbarak's ally

Shadrack Kariira Ndegwa has allegedly been claiming to have the ability to terminate corruption investigations against any person or sway matters under investigation in favour of the individuals under probe. 

He has also been allegedly posing as an operative from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) or Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Forensic Investigator. 

The suspect is currently held at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station.

According to EACC Deputy CEO Abdi Mohamud, similar incidents of people impersonating staff of other top security agencies including the DCI, Police Service and personnel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

 He said the impersonators extort money from the public and also ask for favours claiming to be in position to facilitate or help with investigations.

 The commission has since implored the public to be wary of such fraudsters further asking those conned by Ndegwa to visit the EACC office.

 The suspect is currently held at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station.
