Man arraigned for attempting to defile a 13-year-old girl in Makueni

Odongo had intercepted the minor on her way to school on her bicycle on Monday, before grabbing her by the neck and dragging her into a nearby bush, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The two are said to have grappled for a while, when the minor managed to escape.

"Luckily, the girl managed to fight off the man who had already soiled her loins and escaped toward her home, where she reported the incident to her mother," said DCI.

Her mother then rushed her to Kibwezi Sub County Hospital, where she underwent the necessary medical examinations.

Detectives later nailed the suspect at a nearby farm following a tip off from members of the public. 

The matter is still in court.
