Man accused of killing stepbrother over land dispute arrested in Migori

A man aged between 20 and 22 years is detained at Oria police station in North Kanyamkago, Uriri, Migori County over the death of his step brother aged between 30 and 35 years old.

The suspect identified as Hosea Awino is accused of hacking to death his brother Eliab Otieno on the night of 17th December 2024 at Kambeche village in North Kanyamkago location, Uriri sub-county.

North Kanyamkago location chief Silvance Owiti said their preliminary investigations have established that the suspect killed the brother because of a land dispute.

Owiti said the suspect who claims that the deceased wanted to evict him from a piece of land he currently occupies attacked the deceased at his home at around midnight.

The area chief said the family members rushed Eliab Otieno to the hospital but unfortunately, he succumbed to the injuries before reaching the hospital.

Owiti has appealed to families with land disputes to seek help from relevant offices.
