Man, 25, lynched over rape, killing of Grade 8 pupil in Migori

A 25-year-old man linked to the death of a Grade 8 pupil at Magoto primary school in Suna West, Migori County who was raped and murdered on last week has been lynched by mob.

The suspect, identified only as ‘Daddy’, was lynched on Sunday by locals who took him forcefully from the police who had arrested him.

Some of the residents who spoke to Citizen Digital said members of the public overpowered the police who had gone to various scenes with the suspect to do investigations.

Area MCA Erickson Omondi claimed the deceased admitted to killing the school girl before the mob lynched him.

Omondi appealed to the police to investigate the murder of the school girl conclusively and take legal action against any other suspect who might still be alive.

Meanwhile, the residents want the government to establish a police post in the area to deal with rising cases of insecurity.

They say several people have been killed in the region under unclear circumstances.
