Machakos boda boda rider accused of raping client to remain in custody for 14 days

Timothy Mule, the boda boda operator accused of raping a client in Machakos County, will remain in custody for 14 days, Machakos senior principal magistrate James Obura on Monday ruled.

Mule did not take a plea when he appeared before the magistrate. The court ruled that he should be investigated by probation officers.

The rider allegedly carried a female passenger on Saturday night and instead of taking her to her destination changed directions and raped her near Machakos town.

The woman also suffered a broken arm and deep leg cuts in the incident.

Speaking to media at the Machakos Level V Hospital on Sunday, Allan Musembi, the chairman of boda boda riders in Machakos county said the rider was arrested by locals who reportedly found him in the act.

They took him to Machakos police station and took the victim to the hospital.
