M-PESA services restored

M-PESA services have been restored after Kenyans experienced delays from around 11.00am on Tuesday.

Safaricom, in a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday afternoon, said: "All M-PESA services are now available. We apologise for any inconveniences caused, and thank you for your patience as we worked to restore services."

The service outage was experienced on Safaricom's M-PESA App and on the Sim Toolkit.

Banks had also notified customers of the delays, urging them of patience awaiting further advise once the issue is resolved.

Citizen Digital confirmed that at 11:20 am, a customer tried to send money through M-PESA, but got a notification saying; “MPESA is experiencing delays, and is not able to accept your request. Please wait for 10 minutes before trying again.”

While an error message popped up on the M-PESA app, other users received a message saying; “Dear customer, MPESA is currently undergoing maintenance and is unable to process your request. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
