Life of Form 2 student with heart complications at stake as doctors' strike persists
According to the Matron of the private facility, Julia Wasonga, the patient's condition cannot be contained at the facility. The medics have referred her to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu.
Her parents, who accompanied her to the private facility remain stranded in fear that their trip to either Kisumu or Nairobi could be in vain.
This is as a result of the nationwide doctors strike which has paralysed medical services.
20 days after downing their tools, medics have vowed not to return to work until the government abides by their 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
On Tuesday, the medics held protests in Kisumu and a mega assembly in Nairobi where they have condemned government officials for issuing threats to have them return to work.
A number of patients seeking treatment from public health facilities have been turned away.
