Life and times of Veteran News Anchor Catherine Kasavuli
Kasavuli, 60, passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital early
Friday morning after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Nairobi West in 1962, the very famous media personality,
started out as a continuity announcer at the Voice of Kenya (VOK) in 1980
before welcoming her first child, Martin Kasavuli, in 1981.
In 1982, Kasavuli enrolled at the Kenya Institute of Mass
Communication (KIMC) where she polished her journalistic skills before
she got a gig at KTN, as an anchor, in 1990.
After a successful stint at KTN, Kasavuli joined Royal Media
Services (RSM)in 2007 as a news anchor and corporate affairs manager.
In 2008, Kasavuli was feted with the Order of the Grand
Warrior(OGW) Presidential Award by the now deceased President Mwai Kibaki.
In 2015, Kasavuli launched an independent media company aptly
dubbed Kasavuli Media Group.
In 2021, after a 7-year-old long hiatus, Kasavuli returned to
KBC as an anchor.
The deceased, known for her elegance and beautiful journalistic
word play passed away on Friday surrounded by close friends and family.
