Lang'ata MP-elect Jalang'o says he will continue doing advertisements, radio
Lang’ata
Member of Parliament-elect Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, now
says he may not hang his radio boots just yet even as he prepares to attend to his
new Parliamentary duties.
The comedian-turned-politician has
divulged that, contrary to public opinion that he will now fully ditch his radio
passion to focus on politics, he could spare some time every now and then to
entertain his audience across media platforms.
Despite underscoring that the new MP position
will be up on his priority list, the longstanding morning radio host said politics
will not deter him from multi-tasking and pushing some commercials.
Jalang’o,
taking to social media on Wednesday to answer some of the most asked questions,
said he would be very willing to take up a morning radio gig at any media house
if given the chance.
“Now that you are an MP will you still be doing
radio? For now Langata is my No. 1 priority! Delivery of our manifesto and the
promises we made to the electorate. Radio is my love and if I get a morning
show that ends by 9 so that I can make it for bunge on time then why not? I
know many MPs who still do their jobs and deliver for their constituency,” he
wrote.
“Will you still be doing
advertisement? Hell yeah!! A lot of them! We will actually be now working with
the young people of Langata in concept development and filming! I want to train
as many young people as possible in our resource centers. For me to be a
brand ambassador of your product you must commit to take up and support a
community project in Langata!”
He
went on to spell out that his influence across the social media and
advertisement industry will serve as a stepping stone for him to reach out to
the larger community and will be used to boost the welfare of his people.
He
noted that his YouTube channel, Jalang’o TV, will continue to be in operation under
the management of his team and he may pop in once in a while to conduct high
profile political interviews.
“Jalang'o
TV is now in the hands of my team but once or twice I’ll be doing high-profile
and political interviews. I will also use it to showcase the different projects
we are doing in Langata,” he said.
“We
have already started talking to our different partners on how we can work
together in different projects like Mwananchi credit where l am the brand
ambassador are already committing to sink 20 boreholes in Langata.”
