Laikipia County set for UDA nominations, MP Didmus Barasa to supervise exercise
It’s
all systems go for the long-awaited United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party
nominations scheduled for Thursday as aspirants make their final rounds ahead
of the primaries.
In
Laikipia West, aspirants urged voters to turn out in large numbers and support
their bids to fly the UDA flags ahead of
the August 9 General Election.

Spot check by Citizen TV within the area revealed that politicians were
ecstatic that the nomination day had finally arrived.
They
expressed their optimism that the party primaries will be conducted in a
peaceful and fair manner without any incidents of violence or intimidation.
Onesmus
Karenge, a Laikipia West Parliamentary aspirant and Irene Wachuka, an Igwamiti
Ward MCA aspirant, called on the government to beef up security, especially in
areas that have continued to experience cases of insecurity occasioned by
bandits so that residents can be able to exercise their constitutional right
during the party primaries.
Laikipia West UDA coordinator Nancy Nkatha likewise stated that plans for the nomination process were already in place while assuring aspirants and residents of a fair and peaceful process.
