The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has recovered a house in Nairobi which had been grabbed from the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation by a woman identified as Irene Muthoni Mwaura.

In its judgment, the Environment and Land Court cancelled the transfer of the property at Villa Franca Estate from Kenya Reinsurance Corporation to Mwaura.

The transfer was declared illegal, fraudulent, null, and void and Mwaura was directed to vacate and hand over possession of the property within 60 days, failure to which EACC shall obtain warrants to evict her.

The court also issued a permanent injunction restraining Mwaura, her servants or agents from alienating, encumbering, disposing off, wasting, and trespassing upon or in any other way interfering with the property, except by way of surrender back to the government.

Additionally, Mwaura was ordered to pay mesne profits of Ksh.5,000,000 million for occupying the property illegally.
