Labour CS nominee Florence Bore: I'm worth Ksh.200M

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominee Florence Bore has said she has an estimated net worth of Ksh. 200 million.

Appearing before the National Assembly's Committee on Appointment on Saturday, the former Kericho Woman Representative said her wealth accrued from ownership of two residential homes; one in Nairobi and another in her home county, possession of land, and some vehicles.

Ms Bore says that some of the wealth is jointly owned by her family.

“My financial net worth is about Ksh. 200 million. It is made up of my home in Kericho with a tea farm of about Ksh. 60 million, a home in Nairobi of about Ksh.25 million, some pieces of land in Kericho and Kajiado, some vehicles…all of them to about Ksh. 175 million,” the ex-MP said.

“Some of them are family wealth such as the Kericho home.”

The CS designate also told the committee that she is a member of three Saccos which have contributed to the Ksh. 200 million.

“I also have shares in three Saccos one of them Pacosso, Imarisha, and Kenya Highlands Sacco,” Bore said.

Ms. Bore was born in Kericho County where is also studied for her O-level and A-level at Kipsigis Girls High School.

Thereafter, Bore says she went to Unilever Tea, a Medical Centre, for her one-year attachment before joining Kagumo Teachers Training College in Nyeri County where she pursued a Diploma in Education.

"After my Diploma in Education at Kagumo, I was posted at Nakuru High School then to Kericho Day Secondary School where I taught for about 20 years," she said.

During the two-decade period as a teacher, Bore says she enrolled and acquired an Education Degree at Moi University, Kericho Campus.

Her political journey kicked off in 2012 shortly after resigning as a teacher, where she made her first stab at the Kericho County Woman Representative seat which she was unsuccessful, but managed to secure a job at Bomet County as the Director of Education in charge of Vocational Training until 2015.

"In 2015, I was appointed by the government as a board member at the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) in charge of the Human Resource Committee," she explained.

“In 2017, I vied again for the Woman Rep seat in Kericho and this time round I got it where I have been serving until 2022... In parliament, I served together with my colleagues here in the Committee of Members Welfare, Facilities, Sports, tourism and Culture and Budgetary appropriation.”
