Kware killings: Prime suspect Collins Jumaisi Khalusha's family speaks
The family of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the
main suspect in the Kware killings, says they last saw him in early 2022, and
that since then their son has never returned home.
His mother, who currently resides in Nyatike,
Migori County, told Citizen TV that at some point she was left wondering if he was
dead.
The fact-checking process to unravel his
identity began with an ID number associated with him and retrieved from one of
his registered mobile phones.
Citizen TV submitted details of the ID number
to the National Registration Bureau of Persons, and the details were as
follows; Collins Jumaisi Khalusha was born on 03/02/1991 in Vihiga County,
Hamisi sub-county, Shaviringa location in Shiru ward.
The contact trail went further to locate Khalusha’s
sister, who is married within Shiru ward in Vihiga; she however requested for
her image to be protected.
The sister said she cannot believe that her
brother is indeed responsible for the horrific killings reported at a quarry
within Pipeline, in Nairobi.
“Sidhani kama aliua watu hao wote pekee yake,
siamini, alikuwa mpole sana,” she stated.
She said their father died in 1995, and upon
his death, their mother and other three siblings migrated to Nyatike in Migori
County. Citizen TV traced the mother – Margaret Rose Jumaisi - at Lwala Rabour
village where we also met the brother.
“Collins ni mtoto wangu na alizaliwa shiru,
amesoma Kakubudu primary…baba yake alikuwa anaitwa Elijah Jumaisi, alinioa mwaka
wa 1979, akafa mwaka wa 1995,” she revealed.
The suspect’s brother, Reuben Elijah Muhanji,
confirmed growing up with 33-year-old, who has shocked the county after he was
linked to a massacre of women.
Sometime in 2016, he said, Collins traveled
back to his Migori village and purchased a parcel of land, where he constructed
a house for his mother.
“Vile alimaliza Class 8, alifanya vizuri
wakamwita shule. Nikaona sina pesa ya kumpeleka huko, nikampeleka Uganda
akasomea huko miaka tatu…mimi nilimwacha huko nikarudi Busia penye nilikuwa
naishi,” narrated the suspect’s mother.
“Vile nilirudi Uganda sikumpata, nilipata ati
wametoroka na mwenzake wamekuja Nairobi.”
On inquiring if the man was married, we were
told marriage was never on his mind. Just as everyone else, his mother is
puzzled on the reported happenings at a quarry in Kware.
Collins' brother said the suspect once lived
in Nairobi’s Mbotela estate where he visited him sometime back before they lost
contact.
The family is seeking a thorough probe into
uncovering of the unfortunate killings that have seen their son mentioned as a
key suspect.
On Wednesday morning, investigators revisited
the suspect’s house within Mukuru kwa Njenga and recovered several exhibits.
Some of the recovered items under probe
include blood-stained beddings, sharp knives, several women’s shoes, some
hidden on the roof of the house, women clothing, and a briefcase containing
ropes similar to those used in wrapping bodies recovered at the quarry.
A mobile phone which the suspect sold to the
second suspect has also been linked to one of the deceased person’s whose
bodies were recovered from the quarry and identified.
Police are still piecing together details as
they conduct forensic examination on all exhibits in their possession. The
suspect will remain in custody for 30 days as investigation continues.
