KUPPET official warns against threatening teachers for poor KCSE results

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Migori county branch executive Mr.Samwel Orwa Jasolo has raised concern over a section of education stakeholders who are threatening teachers over meagre results in the 2024 KCSE.

Jasolo said there are some political leaders in Migori County who have threatened to send away some of the school principals because of the poor results recorded in the schools.

He said such threats are unacceptable as it amounts to instilling unnecessary fear in teachers.

Jasolo said some schools like Kibuon where a section of the stakeholders have threatened to send away the school principal who is hardly one year old in the school has had about 7 principals from the year 2014.

He said the teachers must be given time to deliver, adding that the communities must also deal with other issues ailing their school instead of directing their anger to the teachers.

Migori KUPPET secretary said teachers must be respected and also given space to do their work so that the schools can get good results.

Jasolo said a number of issues including hardship allowance need to be dealt with in Nyatike Sub County so that teachers can be motivated to teach in the region that is regarded as a hardship area.
