The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has issued a 21-day strike notice to the County Government of Uasin Gishu for contravening the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that they signed.

Addressing the press in Eldoret town, KMPDU Secretary General Dr Davji Atellah accused the county government management of frustrating consultants by paying salaries as that of interns.

Atellah said the county government has also stopped salaries for medical practitioners, thereby forcing them to survive on empty pockets while at work.

He said they are also having a discussion with doctors at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in preparation for signing a new CBA due to challenges they are facing such as discrimination and being on the same contract for way too long.
