KMPDC deregisters David Nyawade Onyango as a medical practitioner
This follows allegations that Mr. Nyawade had been falsely operating as a medical doctor without proper registration.
It is reported that Nyawade claimed to be a surgeon despite lacking an undergraduate medical degree.
“This is to inform the general public that the above-pictured person going by the name of 'David Nyawade Onyango ' or 'David Onyango Nyawade' has been deregistered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council and is hereby prohibited from practising as a medical doctor in the Republic of Kenya,” the public notice read.
The move comes amid a crackdown on individuals posing as health professionals in a bid to protect the public from unqualified practitioners.
This development coincides with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Eric Theuri's revelation of yet another imposter after increased reports of quacks posing as professionals.
Sharon Adunya Atieno had been posing as a lawyer without the essential qualifications mandated by law.
Her arrest followed closely on the heels of the exposure of Brian Mwenda, who was found to have operated as a lawyer without a proper license, going as far as using another advocate's credentials illegally.
The revelation ignited a range of reactions among Kenyans and prominent figures, with former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and the Central Organization of Trade Unions Kenya (COTU-K) Secretary General Francis Atwoli coming to the defence of the suspect, Brian Mwenda who has since been arrested.
