A Member of the Kitui County Assembly (MCA) is in police custody over his alleged involvement in the theft of mobile phone accessories valued at approximately Ksh.1.9 million.
According to
the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi, the MCA
for Ikanga Ward, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon following the analysis of
CCTV footage linked to the incident, which occurred on February 8, 2025.
The stolen
items, which were en route to a client in Mombasa, had been reported missing by
the management of Buscar Courier Services located along River Road in Nairobi.
In a statement,
the DCI said the footage clearly showed the MCA walking away with the parcel in
question.
“The arrest
followed a positive identification after CCTV footage of the scene was
analyzed, which captured the suspect leaving with the parcel destined for a
client in Mombasa,” the DCI noted.
Musyoka, who
reportedly did not disclose his identity as an elected official, was later
apprehended by Buscar’s security personnel after being spotted at the courier’s
River Road office in Nairobi. He was then handed over to officers at Central
Police Station.
It was at the
police station that his identity was confirmed, after which he was transferred
to Mombasa for further processing by detectives handling the case.
