Kisumu County Assembly suspends 4 MCAs expelled by ODM

This follows a communication from the ODM party after the National Executive Council (NEC) resolved to expel them.

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro says the four; Carolyne Opar, Kennedy Ajwang, Peter Obaso, and Regina Kizito, will forthwith not participate in the assembly activities.

Speaker Oraro further directed the Clerk of the County Assembly to take note of the communication and ensure that the necessary administrative actions are taken to enforce the suspension of the four.

The speaker asked other MCAs to adhere to the decision and maintain integrity during the period as the process to recall them kicks off.

In a letter dated September 7, 2023, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen directed the assembly speaker to implement the NEC decision to revoke the election of the members while at the same time adhering to assembly Standing Orders and the Elections Act.
