Kisumu: 19-year-old girl on the run after allegedly stabbing uncle to death

The incident, which has shocked the local community, is said to have been triggered by the uncle’s persistent disruptive behavior, particularly when he returned home drunk.
According to Katho Location Chief Hesbon Nyabanda, the deceased had a history of causing trouble for his stepmother, who is also the grandmother of the suspect.
The young woman, a Form Four student at a local day secondary school, lives with her elderly grandmother.
Chief Nyabanda explained that the tragic event unfolded last night when the uncle returned home intoxicated and began harassing the elderly woman.
This reportedly angered the granddaughter, leading to a heated argument between her and the uncle. The situation escalated when the uncle allegedly attempted to forcefully take maize flour from the grandmother’s house.
In a moment of rage, the student reportedly grabbed a knife and stabbed her uncle in the chest. The victim bled profusely and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The young woman fled the scene immediately after the incident and remains at large as police continue their search.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Ahero Sub-County Hospital mortuary for further examination.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in the investigation.
