Kirinyaga Woman Rep probed over plans to disrupt public participation in Gachagua impeachment

According to the lawmaker said she has been summoned to appear at Kerugoya DCI offices on Thursday, 10 am. 

“I received a text message saying ‘there are serious allegations against you that you are mobilising goons to cause chaos on Friday during public participation on DP impeachment motion.”

In a text message read by the Woman Rep, Investigator Abraham Mugambi asked Njeri to appear at the DCIO Kirinyaga office tomorrow on Thursday to shed light on the allegation.

The Kirinyaga woman rep has described the summon as witchhunt meant to intimidate her because of being a diehard supporter of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“They want to cause fear to residents of Kirinyaga County who are strong supporters of the Deputy President not to attend Friday public participation at Kirinyaga central Constituency hall on Friday,”Njeri said.

Public participation to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be held at Kirinyaga Central Constituency NGCDF offices on Friday.

“I will continue telling the people of Kirinyaga to come out in large numbers on Friday and express their constitutional right on Friday,” Njeri said.

Gachagua faces a historic impeachment motion with an unprecedented 291 MPs supporting the bid.

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse tabled the motion, presenting 11 grounds to impeach the DP. Some of these include gross violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct, bullying, corruption, undermining the presidency among others.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has directed that public participation be conducted on October 4, across all 47 counties, and consequently, DP Gachagua be given a fair hearing on October 8.
