Kirinyaga: Woman found murdered, body dumped near rice farm in Mwea

Shocked residents from Mutithi Ward said the naked body of the 50-year-old woman, was found by the rice workers going who were going to their farms in the morning.

Led by Irungu Kubatha and Susan Wambui, the locals told police officers that the woman was not from the area, adding that she might have been murdered elsewhere before being dumped at the scene.

“I wonder why somebody decided to kill this beautiful woman, who is totally naked,”  James Maina said

Wambui added: “This woman  is not from this area we suspect  she was murdered  elsewhere  and the body  ferried to the scene as no one around this place seems to know her.”

Kirinyaga police commander Andrew Naibei confirmed the incident saying the body had been moved to Kerugoya Level Four Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Residents called for heightening security in the area, noting that this is the second incident along Mwea-West Sub-County roads as two weeks ago, the body  of another woman was found in a similar state/

They say she had been murdered at Rukanga along Makutano-Sagana Road and was later identified as a blogger from Tharaka Nithi County.

The police boss thus assured that security would be beefed up by increasing patrols at night along the busy highway as they also continued to probe the matter.

He also noted that an identification process for the body had commenced.
