Kirinyaga: Drama as Chief, Assistant publicly dressed down over failure to tackle illicit brews
There was drama at a baraza in Ngomongo area
of Kutus, Kirinyaga County, on Wednesday after a chief and his assistant escaped
the wrath of Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Allasow who threatened to
sack them in public.
The
administrators were only spared because of pleas from members of the public who
asked for them to be forgiven.
The
two earned the County Commissioner's wrath after the seizure of illicit brew at
a den in their locality, and the arrest of a suspect who had Ksh.1 million in
cash.
Mr.
Allasow sought an explanation from the duo on where they were when the raid
took place and why they had not moved against the brewer before the larger
security team took action.
“Hawa
wawili nawalaumu...hawa nitawakaanga. Siwezi kuwasamehea, wamefanya kazi gani?
Mpaka DC, OCPD wakuje ashike watu hapa, hawa walikuwa wanafanya kazi gani? Chief,
ulikuwa unafanya kazi gani hapa? Sichezi na mtu...Siwezi kumsameha,” he stated.
"If
you are an Assistant Chief in this area, and you are the first to consume
illicit brew, how will you stop the menace?"
The
Chief and his assistant were allowed to continue serving but warned that the
illicit brew menace must be stopped.
