Kirinyaga County to conduct public health education

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Naiyoma Tobiko has said the county government of Kirinyaga is carrying out public health education and decontaminating homesteads where cases of cholera have been reported.

Speaking in Kibirigwi Primary School in Ndia during Madaraka Day celebrations Tobiko said seven cases have in the course of the last month been detected in Gacharu and in Ndia constituency and  'kwa v' Mwea Constituency.

Tobiko appealed to members of the public to ensure that they observe the required hygiene practices such as washing hands with soap and running water, consuming treated or boiled water, eating well-cooked and hot food and proper faecal waste disposal.

On fighting deadly liquor in Kirinyaga County, Tobiko said Deputy County Commissioners in all five sub-counties will not bet the vice within their jurisdictions.

"Last week a drug dealer in Ndia constituency was fined Ksh.5 million by Baricho law court. We are warning the drug dealers and distributors of deadly liquors in Kirinyaga County," Tobiko said.

Tobiko urged local residents to work with government officers as the Government has declared war against  drug peddlers and those dealing in illegal drugs.' Stop consuming unregulated liquor  which is  laced with deadly chemicals that are harmful to human  health.' Tobiko.
