Interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
Interior Cabinet
Secretary Kithure Kindiki has warned those planning to stage protests on
Wednesday that they will be met with the full force of the law.
Kindiki said
security agencies have been directed to enforce law firmly in dealing with
those threatening to make the country ungovernable through mayhem and looting.
The Interior CS says six people died on Friday during the
mass protests convened by the opposition team, scores injured and property destroyed.
“Freedom of association
and the right to demonstrate/picket do not include the right to cause mayhem
and loot property. On Wednesday, anyone threatening to make the country
ungovernable through the mayhem, looting, chaos, and bloodshed will be dealt with
firmly and decisively, in accordance with the law,” he said.
According to the CS, while the government will not interfere
with the right to demonstrate or picket, such protests must be peaceful and
demonstrators unarmed.
