Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah hits back at Ukambani leaders over DP Ruto criticism
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has hit back at a
section of Ukambani leaders for criticizing Deputy President William Ruto
claiming they are edgy because of the competition the DP brings ahead of next
year’s polls.
This
comes after the leaders; led by Governors Charity Ngilu
(Kitui), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), on Friday endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga’s bid for the top seat.
According
to Ichung’wah, the leaders are only criticizing DP Ruto because they are
concerned with how well his bottom-up ideology has resonated with Kenyans.
The
Kikuyu MP was speaking in Ngoliba, Kiambu County, on Saturday as part of the
DP’s procession touring the Thika area of Mt. Kenya region.
“Iko
While
criticizing Odinga for the violence witnessed in Kondele, Kisumu County last
week, the legislator told the ODM leader not to get too comfortable with
support from what he termed the ‘deep State.’
“Bwana
“We want
to tell Raila Odinga you may think today you have the protection of the deep State
but the people of Kenya will never allow you to take this country down the route
you took us on 2007 and 2008.”
