Kibet Bull says Senator Omtatah not to blame for his abduction
Kibet, whose abduction, alongside that of Bernard Kavuli, Billy Mwangi and Peter Muteti caused a national uproar, on Thursday took to X to clear the Presidential hopeful from any involvement in his abduction.
"I want to clean the air, I don't think Okiya Omtatah was involved in my abduction," he wrote on X.
Kibet went on to urge his followers not to blame Omtatah as prior to his ordeal, there had been a series of events which, ultimately, led to his abduction - none of which was connected to the Busia legislator.
"Stop blaming him. Two days before my abductions, they had abducted my bro to use it as a bait to catch me. Also, they had broken into my landlord's house thinking it's my house," he wrote.
Despite the clarification, some of his followers still pressed him on his earlier assertion where he had claimed that he did not know about his brother Ronny Kiplang'at's abduction until he was released.
Someone asked, "Oooh. But I think you said you only got to know about your brother's abduction on the news pale disco matanga Luanda..." to which Kibet replied, "Yes. I later came to know."
His statement has been warmly welcomed by a section of his followers, with many stating that malicious characters had been attaching Omtatah's name to the abduction just to mudsling him and jeopardise his presidential bid.
Nyamisa Chelagat said, "We all knew these facts. They just deliberately ignore them to push a narrative."
X user Dancan Onyango also commented, saying, "I said that when the time is ripe, the truth would come out by itself. Thank you, Comrade @Kibet_bull for clearing the air. Let's wait and see how the propaganda machinery will twist this again in attempt to taint the name of Senior Comrade @OkiyaOmtatah..."
Thomas Gombe, on his part, wrote, "Very clear and logical. You are right. No one should claim to put the facts better than you have. It was a matter of time and here we are. The truth is known, and it set you free. Kenyans are now free from the propaganda and confusion from haters. You remain our hero."
Hours after Kibet's abduction, several influential X personalities came out to place the blame on Okiya Omtatah who had met Kibet in his Upper Hill offices for several hours right before he was abducted while leaving the premises.
In his own defense, Omtahtah wrote: "When I learnt of his abduction, I made a report to the Upperhill Police Station. I took it upon myself to make that report because he left this house and did not arrive at his destination."
"Kibet committed no crime, yet he was targeted and abducted. No Kenyan should live in fear of being taken away without due process."
Kibet Bull, his brother and other abductees, were released on January 6. The same day Kenyans had planned nationwide demonstrations and traffic disruptions to call for the end of abductions and the unconditional release of Kibet and his compatriots.
