Kiambu County Deputy Speaker John Njue Njiru is presently in police custody after he was arrested for allegedly demanding a bribe of Ksh.130,000.

Njiru, who is the MCA for Hospital Ward in Thika, was nabbed by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

According to the commission, the MCA sought the bribe as well as a free portion of prime land belonging to a woman in Thika in order to “facilitate” and have her allowed to proceed with any activity on her Ksh.15 million land.

Mr. Njiru is currently being grilled by sleuths from the anti-graft watchdog at the Integrity Centre Police Station.
