Kiambu County begins recovery of 1,000 parcels of grabbed land
The county administration is collaborating with the National Land Commission (NLC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to reclaim this prime land, which was acquired under dubious circumstances.
Governor Kimani Wamatangi stated that the land in question encompasses around 720 acres spread across the County.
Those currently occupying the land and are at risk of losing it will be formally notified through a public notice to be published in local newspapers
The County Boss said the affected parties would have a 60-day window to submit their documents for scrutiny by the relevant government agencies.
Wamatangi made the revelation at the County headquarters while receiving six title deeds for public land that were voluntarily surrendered to the National Land Commission.
The ownership documents were handed over by Mr. Molu Harake, the NLC County Coordinator.
The Governor reiterated his administration's commitment to safeguard public land from unscrupulous individuals who have been preying on it.
He called upon those who had acquired public land illegally to voluntarily return it to the public before facing legal consequences.
During today’s event, the Governor received title deeds that had been recovered by the DCI.
The recovered land was an open space in Ting’ang’a, one earmarked for a cattle dip, a spring and another one for the establishment of a market.
Wamatangi thanked the NLC and DCI for their support in recovering the land and said the joint efforts had started bearing fruit.
