Key suspect in hairdresser Jane Mwende's murder arrested while trying to flee to Tanzania

File image of Jane Mwende, a hairdresser whose body was found dumped in a pit latrine in Mlolongo area, just a few kilometres from her workstation.

Detectives from Mlolongo police station have arrested the key suspect in hairdresser Jane Mwende’s murder.

Phylis Nzula was intercepted on Saturday while heading to Tanzania at the Namanga border.

The arrest brings to three the number of suspects in custody.

Police are said to have trailed Nzula from Mombasa.

Nzula will be presented in court on Monday.

Mwende's body was found dumped in a pit latrine in Mlolongo area.

A postmortem conducted at Montezuma Monalisa Mortuary in Machakos town last month indicated that 29-year-old Mwende died from asphyxiation, caused by manual neck compression.
