Kericho man dies after taking 'Mitishamba' prescribed by form three student

An 18-year-old man in Kericho lost his life after taking herbal medicine prescribed by a local herbalist, who is a form three student at a secondary school in Kipkelion East constituency.

The man, alongside his friend aged 17, took the concoction that costs Ksh.100 per cup. 

The 17-year-old survived the ordeal and is admitted at Londiani Sub County Hospital.

The victims from Miti Tatu village in Soget/Tendeno ward, turned to the herbal concoction when they began experiencing malaria-like symptoms. 

The concoction was made from boiling the roots of a local indigenous tree. 

Clinical officer Justus Mosera of Londiani Sub County Hospital revealed that the deceased passed away at home, while the survivor, Vincent Kiprono, complained of vomiting and abdominal pain, leading to his hospitalization.
