Kericho County Secretary resigns ahead of impeachment

DR. WESLEY BOR

Embattled Kericho County Secretary and Head of County Public Service, Dr. Wesley Bor, has called it quits after tendering his resignation ahead of his imminent impeachment by the Kericho County Assembly.

In a letter addressed to Kericho Governor Eric Mutai, Dr. Bor issued a one-month notice of service as the County Secretary and Head of Public Service.

On Tuesday, July 9th, 28 Kericho MCAs approved a motion to impeach Dr. Bor on allegations of gross violation of the constitution, breach of the County Government Act, and incompetence.

The MCAs, in their impeachment motion, pointed out that there were allegations of unprocedural redeployment of County staff without following the due process as highlighted in the Human Resource Management Policy and the County Government Act 2012.

The ward representatives added that Dr. Bor was adversely mentioned by the Ad Hoc Committee, which had been formed to investigate the misappropriation of Londiani accident victims’ funds.

Dr. Bor was also accused of misusing Kshs 39 million meant for the Kazi Mtaani project for over 3000 youth drawn from all 30 wards in the county, with allegations that the money was pilfered through companies associated with the County Secretary
