Kenyatta workers begin rebuilding damaged Northlands Farm
Two days after the invasion by goons at the
Northlands Farm, the management has started repairing the damage caused by the
attackers and also improved security around the farm.
A spot-check by Citizen TV at the farm reveals
enhanced security with police officers also on patrol to ensure the area is a
no-go zone for unauthorised personnel. It has also been established that the
farm was under the watch of private security personnel and not police as
earlier alleged.
Workers at Northlands on Wednesday
afternoon were in a rush to fix one of the broken gates at the farm.
The group knows time is of the essence as they
have to finish the job before Thursday when Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition
has planned another round of demonstrations.
There was also an excavator clearing
the bush next to the fence to enable security
officers to patrol the farm with ease unlike before. But apart from the repairs,
the management of the farm associated with Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's
family has enhanced security around the farm.
They have acquired German Shepherd dogs to
help the private security guards to patrol the farm and keep invaders away.
All this happens as police officers watch keenly to ensure no one gains access to the area which for the last two days has been the subject of debate after a daylong invasion on Monday.
Reports that the farm was under the watch
of police officers have been dismissed by the source who confirmed that only
Brookside Company located inside the farm is under police protection with the
rest of the farm being guarded by private security guards.
The security guards were also affected by
the invasion as looters destroyed their homes and stole their belongings.
On failure by police to respond on time
after the attackers invaded the farm at around 9 am in the morning and left past 7 pm.
Sources said that the sub-county police commanders were held up in a meeting at the Kiambu
Police Regional offices for the better part of the day and they responded after
receiving a report they claim was made at around 3 pm.
Our
source says it took the efforts of one of the retired president's family members
to shoot in the air to prevent the attackers from entering the other side of
the farm which hosts Brookside among other facilities before police arrived.
Police who have confirmed receiving reports
of stolen sheep being hidden in Dandora area say they have put adequate
measures to protect the farm ahead of the planned Thursday's mass action protests
to be held across the country.
