The legislator pointed out that politicians entrusted with the power to transform a nation but end up serving self-interests are a reflection of the citizens.
She added that Kenyans often elevate leaders who reflect their aspirations, not necessarily their virtues.
"Kenyans must own up to the fact that we've messed up our country, we have no sense of values. We end up saying the words that mean nothing but don't mean them," she said in an interview on NTV.
"If you ask me, some laws should be repealed because they're cosmetics."
The lawmaker explained that each Kenyan should examine their values and aspirations to escape the clutches of the cycle that leads to wrong leadership.
"In countries where you see things changing, people do not tolerate impunity. But in a country where I know the society will tolerate my bad manners, will you expect me to come to Parliament and change? No," she said.
Alluding to the recent court ruling that stripped Kenya Kwanza of the majority status, Millie welcomed the move and pointed out that Parliament should uphold the judges' orders.
"The court bases their decision on what is presented before them. The petition that was before them was about the ruling by the speaker and that ruling was defective. We were the majority," she pointed out.
Millie became the talking point of Tuesday's afternoon session after she called on Speaker Moses Wetangula to declare the Azimio as the majority side.
“The court decided that the Azimio side is the majority coalition. As a parliament, we need to obey court rulings even if we do not agree with them," she stated.
Wetangula is set to declare his verdict on Wednesday.
