Kenya has once again been put on the global map after one of its very own; Polly Irungu made history to become one of the people who hold an integral position in the United States government.

Irungu, a US citizen with Kenyan roots, made history after she was appointed as the first official photo editor in the office of US Vice President Kamala Harris.

While sharing the news on her social media pages, Irungu noted that it was an honour to be appointed to Joe Biden’s administration.

“New chapter! I’m excited to announce that I’m the first official photo editor for the office of the vice president in the Biden-Harris administration. Honoured and grateful is an understatement,” Irungu said.

In the new role, Irungu will be tasked with editing photos for Kamala Harris.

Before her appointment at Kamala’s office, a quick background check by Citizen Digital established that Irungu, a journalist by profession, has worked in some reputable media organizations such as the International Women’s Media Foundation and WeTransfer.

She is also the founder of Black Women Photographers, a platform that showcases the artwork of various black women around the world.
