Kenyan acrobats perform for Pope Francis in Vatican City
A group of Kenyan-born acrobats
on Wednesday surprised and thrilled Pope Francis with an exciting performance during
his weekly public catechesis in Vatican City.
The group of five, popularly
known as the ‘Black Blues Brothers,’ performed at the end of the prayers that
are commonly referred to as Pope Francis’ General Audience, surprising both the
Pope as well as the faithful that had gathered at St. Peter’s
Square.
The Black Blues Brothers
rocked up before Pope Francis and performed acrobatics and somersaults to classic
songs like ‘Soul Man’ and ‘Do the Twist’ – all the while dressed up in all
black suits and hats.
The Pope seemingly loved the
show and clapped alongside the hundreds of people that were gathered at the
square who also cheered on.
The five men, who are all
originally from Nairobi, are renowned worldwide for their wild performances in theaters
and festivals that sometimes even involve fire stunts.
