Kenya Red Cross warns of fake paybill number circulating online
A spot check by Citizen Digital revealed that social media users have shared fake paybill numbers which call for contributions towards relief support amid the biting drought situation.
Kenya Red Cross said those behind the fake paybill numbers complete with the Society’s logo are seeking to hoodwink innocent Kenyans.
“We would Like to caution members of the public Against falling victim to Such fraudsters, who are out to exploit the unfortunate drought situation that has left over 4.35 million Kenyans in need of support,” reads parts of the statement by Kenya Red Cross.
Kenyans have been urged to channel their support to the Society’s official paybill number which is 1000, under the account name ‘Drought’.
