Kenya reaffirms commitment to Somalia stabilisation at Entebbe Summit

Kenya has restated its commitment to supporting peace and security efforts in Somalia, emphasizing the importance of defeating Al-Shabaab and other extremist groups for the stability of Eastern Africa.
In a statement
from the Office of the Deputy President, Kenya said it remains determined,
alongside other troop-contributing countries, to ensure the full realization of
peace and security in Somalia through the African Union Support and
Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The commitment was
made during an Extraordinary Summit held at State House, Entebbe, Uganda. The
meeting brought together leaders and senior officials from countries
contributing troops to AUSSOM, as well as representatives from Somalia.
Among those
present were Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, Somalia’s President Hassan
Sheikh Mohamud, Djibouti’s Prime Minister Abdoulkadir Kamil Mohamed, Egypt’s
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and Ethiopia’s Minister of Defence Eng.
Aisha Mohammed Mussa.
The summit aimed
to forge a united and coherent strategy for the stabilization of Somalia.
Kenya reiterated
that it remains committed to supporting AUSSOM’s success and working to disrupt
terrorist support networks across the region.
