Kenya hosts World Travel awards at KICC
Among the winners is Nairobi City which was named Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination, and the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) which won Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference destination for the fourth time in a row.
Commenting on the KICC CEO Nana Gecaga said “this event comes at the right time, when the global tourism sector is emerging out of the economic turmoil of Covid-19. It is also an excellent opportunity to share our collective experiences on how we can take the industry forward but more importantly, build a resilient and sustainable tourism sector.”
Nana said the growth of the industry will require concerted partnership and collaboration among all stakeholders in energizing the industry’s recovery, growth and sustainability agenda.
Kenya was named Africa’s leading destination while national carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) won four continental awards. KQ was named Africa’s Leading Airline 2022, Africa’s Leading Airline Brand 2022, Africa’s Leading Airline – Business Class 2022, and Africa’s Leading Inflight Magazine 2022 (Msafiri).
The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries and is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.
