Kenya-China 2024 strategic meeting focuses on strengthening economic ties and regional development

The event provided a platform to review the year’s milestones, focusing on the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and China’s evolving economic and infrastructure reforms.
Dr. Hendry Rotichi, Chairman of the Kenya-China Alumni Association, stated, “We want to go far, we want to strengthen our collaboration, and we want to build a large team working together in our society.”
Ms. Du Shan, Executive General Manager of CRBC Kenya, emphasized, “This initiative has created jobs for hundreds of Kenyans. We are aiming to share developments to facilitate coordination in regional development and provide quality services for the government."
"Since the construction and operational launch of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), it has created both direct and indirect jobs through our training system, employing local staff. For example, the Nairobi Expressway project employs nearly 7,000 local staff and continues to create employment opportunities during its operation, thereby supporting economic growth. These projects have not only reduced public congestion but also improved Nairobi’s international image, helping Kenya become the leading hub in East Africa. The signing of the MOU today between the Kenya-China Economic and Trade Association and the Kenya-China Alumni Association (KCAA) will further strengthen cooperation between Kenya and China.”
