KeNHA closes section of Thika-Garissa highway for one month

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA)
has announced a temporary closure of Thika-Garissa highway at Yatta virtual weighbridge
in Machakos County for a period of one month.
Beginning April 9 to May 7, 2022 road users
will be required to use a diversion as the authority sets to build a concrete
pavement in the section.
KeNHA made the announcement on Friday in a
statement released by the authority’s Director General, Kung’u Ndung’u.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a
section of Thika - Garissa (A3) Road, at the Yatta Virtual Weighbridge, at
approximately Km 20+130 from Kilimambogo, will be closed from Saturday, April
9, 2022, to Saturday, May 7, 2022,” read the statement.
“This is to pave way for the construction of
a concrete pavement for the Yatta Virtual Weighbridge.”
DG Ndung’u further directed motorists and all
road users to use the 615 meters diversion from the Yatta NYS field unit located
past Huduma Primary School, from Thika, in order to avoid the construction
site.
At the same time, KeNHA called on road users
plying the route to exercise caution as they observe the traffic.
“All motorists are requested to exercise
caution and follow the proposed traffic management plan as they cooperate with
the police and traffic marshals on-site,” stated the authority.
