KeNHA installs 12 virtual weighing sensors in Western Kenya to combat overloading

Kenya National Highways Authority(KeNHA) has installed 12 ultra modern Weighing Sensors in Western region to curb overloading.
The free maintenance virtual Weighing Sensors and weighbridges have been erected at Mau Summit, Cheptiret, Eldama Ravine, Eldoret, Kapenguria, Malaba, Mayoni, Mukumu, Ahero, Southern Bypass Both Bounds and Kamagambo to enforce stipulated axle load limit.
George Ngugi, the project's Operations Manager said the 12 virtual stations will seal all loopholes in the Northern Corridor and adjacent roads.
Ngugi says the installation of the virtual Weighing Sensors preceded by upgrade of road pavement from asphalt to concrete standards to ensure durability.
"Improvement works has been undertaken in 10 stations with only 2 remaining to ensure durability and protect the maintenance free scales to enhance efficiency," Ngugi said.
He said the improvement works are almost complete and full weighing operations will begin soon.
"We have finalized the mechanical and electric works, installed the virtual scales and other accessories. We are now in the testing and Verification stage," Ngugi said.
