Keiyo South MP Kimaiyo offers new car to best performing chief in fight against alcoholism

Keiyo South Member of Parliament Gideon Kimaiyo has now promised to reward the best-performing chief or assistant chief in the ongoing war against alcoholism in his constituency.

Kimaiyo who was speaking at a consultative forum in his constituency reiterated the government’s commitment to deal with alcoholism among other vices within society in a bid to improve livelihoods, especially among young people.

The MP said the administrator who will show an exemplary performance in curbing drug and substance abuse will be handed a new car.

“I will reward the best chief or assistant chief with a car. The best in assisting us fight alcoholism, school absenteeism and pregnancies among other society vies,” said the lawmaker.

During the forum, held at the CDF office in Nyaru brought together a  diverse group comprising chiefs, sub-chiefs, ACCs, DCC, Regular Police, DCI, Administrative Police, Intelligence officers, KFS, NYS, and other relevant stakeholders from Keiyo South.

The primary focus of the meeting revolved around addressing challenges such as alcoholism, illicit brews, child pregnancies, school absenteeism and other security-related concerns. 

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua been steering the national government’s efforts to confront alcohol and substance abuse in the Mt Kenyan region among other highly affected areas.

The DP recently put on notice National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOS) against abetting alcoholism.

To underscore his efforts, Gachagua recently ordered the arrest of a sub-chief who was allegedly binge drinking at a local pub during his visit to Mathira constituency, Nyeri County on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
