Keiyo South MP Kimaiyo gives parents ultimatum to take children to Form 1 or face arrest

Keiyo South Member of Parliament Gideon Kimaiyo has vowed to ensure all students in his constituency who sat last year's KCSE exam secure admission to Form 1.

While offering to help parents pay school fees, the MP said any parent found keeping their child at home by Wednesday this week would be arrested.

"Any child with 250 marks & above and still at home should report to school by tomorrow. Fanyeni Shopping. Your MP will take care of school fees," he said.

For those children who scored below 250 marks, the MP instructed the parents to take them to day schools which he underscored is free.

“Any Child with below 250 marks and still at home should report to Day School immediately. Day school in Keiyo South Constituency is free. By Wednesday any parent found with a child at home will be arrested Through the office of DCC working with all chiefs, we shall ensure 100% transition to Form 1,” said the MP in a statement.

Earlier the Ministry of Education data showed that over 130,000 boys and girls from across Kenya were yet to transition from primary to secondary school. 

The ministry placed 1.39 million Children in secondary schools. Ninety-one per cent of these have reported to schools, the rest have not.
